The extraordinary wealth Paraguay has in its natural reserves, both in
private and public national parks, invites visitors to learn about the
enormous diversity of the native flora and fauna making it a fantastic
nature tourism destination
The bi-national hydroelectric dams of Itaipu and Yacyretá have
established special systems for environmental protection. Among the better
known protected areas are: the Tatí Yupi Biological Refuge, Itabo
and Limoy Biological Reserves, the Atinguy Fauna Refuge, and the Yabebyry
Wildlife Reserve, where guided tours allows the visitors to experience
the fauna and flora in their natural settings.
Other protected areas of great beauty are; the Mbaracayú Forest
Natural Reserve; the Ybycuí, Serranías de San Luis, Cerro
Cora, Defensores del Chaco, and Teniente Enciso National Parks; and the
"Moisés Bertoni" Scientific Monument. There, visitors
can enjoy camping sites, panoramic watchtowers, and guided trekking paths.
The Pantanal is a world-renowned wetland area that follows the Paraguay
River North toward the border with Brazil and Bolivia, part of the region
known as the "Gran Pantanal". With rivers and lagoons, exuberant
flora, and a abundant fauna, its Capital is Fuerte Olimpo, a tranquil
city with great history and an interesting from an architectural standpoint.
The "Crucero Paraguay" and the "Lancha Aquidaban"
vessels offer an excellent option to visit these attractions, following
a route full of adventure.

Adventure Tourism and Sport
The diversity of the Paraguayan landscape allows visitors to enjoy unforgettable
adventures along ridges, streams, and waterfalls that offer excellent
conditions for sports including; biking, rappeiling, cascading, trekking,
and other stimulating sports that everyday attracts more people, young
and old. The Tagatiyá stream, the Mbaracayú Forest, the
Ybytyruzú Sierras and the Vallemí Caverns, are some of the
favorite destinations.
Paraguay is a paradise for competitive sports, with professional and internationally
renowned golf courses such as that of Carlos Franco, PGA Champion. At
the same time, sport fishing allows visitors to discover the Paraguay
Paraná, Tebicuary, and other rivers spread throughout the country.

In the last few years, ranchers and farmers from the Paraguayan countryside
have discovered the great opportunities that tourism can offer. These
ranches and farms offer the possibility of living the charm of the rural
lifestyle. With daily activities, such as long horseback rides, rodeos,
